Full-time Surgical Physician Assistant (PA)
Norwalk Hospital, a part of Nuvance Health is seeking a per diem experienced full-time Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our long-established teaching Surgical PA Residency program and growing Surgical Advanced Practitioner Service at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Norwalk Hospital is located about 50 miles outside of New York City in lower Fairfield County Connecticut.
This is a great opportunity to have an active role supervising our Surgical Residents and work on the floors.
Physician Assistant candidates can also assist in the OR across a wide range of surgical sub-specialties.
This is an employed position with Nuvance Health Medical Practice.

Surgical service coverage includes general surgery in addition to Thoracic, Vascular, Urology, Colorectal, Bariatrics, Plastic & Reconstructive surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Gynecological surgery, and the SICU.
Specific responsibilities include:
oHistory and physical examinationsoPre- and post-operative care of patientsoActive participation on the trauma teamoParticipation in the education and hands-on training of PA residents and PA students and medical students during surgical rotations at Norwalk HospitaloOR assisting Norwalk Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center, is accredited as a Stroke Center and certified to provide Emergency Angioplasty for heart attack.

Job Requirements:
oBaccalaureate degree.
oGraduate of an approved PA Program and a post-graduate training program in surgery or at least one year surgical or equivalent work experience.
oKnowledge of surgical critical care, preferred.
oCurrent Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or Board Certified Nurse Practitioner.
oPhysician Assistant licensure or Connecticut State of CT RN and APRN license.
oCT State Controlled Substance and Federal DEA Registration.
oATLS, ACLS & BLS certification are required.
ATLS training will be scheduled as necessary.
oAbility to work two shifts per month, either 8, 12 or 24 hours:

30 AM - 4:
00 PM or 8AM-8PM, or 24hr call.
