Department Chair of Ob/Gyn Norwalk HospitalSummaryThe Chairman oversees all administrative and clinical functions in the area of Obstetrics and Gynecology to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients.
The Chairman provides strategic leadership for the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences including oversight of all components for the Department - obstetrics and gynecology, maternal/fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, gynecologic oncology, urogynecologic, minimally invasive surgery, women's health center, residency program and global health.
The Chairman leads programmatic, education and research development for the Division.
The Chairman will chart a course for research growth in the Department, while balancing clinical activities, overseeing quality initiatives and developing services.
Responsibilities Overall supervision of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Works with the Program Director for residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, ensuring compliance with ACGME guidelines.
Chairman's monthly Department of OB/GYN Leadership meetings and PI meetings.
Provides leadership and direction in Divisional meetings, Chairman's meetings, Service Line meetings, Medical Staff Executive Committee meetings, Service Excellence Group meetings and Chiefs' meetings.
Oversees all departmental activities in peer review, medical education and research.
Also oversees iFPPE and OPPE processes for all members of the Department.
Monitors and ensures quality of services as provided by the department through the development and implementation of specific goals and metrics for assigned initiatives which may be delegated to departmental physicians.
Reviews, updates and adopts all relevant policies, rules and regulations for the Department.
In addition, reviews, updates and adopts delineation of clinical privileges form for the department annually.
Also creates training plans for new members as needed.
Ensures compliance with Human Resource policies, regulatory agencies, clinical services, coding, billing, professional code of conduct, patients' bill of rights, HIPAA and Hospital policies related to compliance.
Partners with other clinical departments in program development.
Provides leadership, guidance, analysis of data in working as a team to fulfill Corporate Goals and to serve patients of our region.
Prepares areas of responsibility in a manner that creates an environment that in is compliance with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to Joint Commission and the State of CT Department of Health Assists the Development Fund staff in the identification of potential donors and with other support as requested.
Demonstrates effective partnership with operating executive/service line executive and promotes the same expectation with chiefs and other physician staff.
Responsible for promoting a positive work environment, partnering with executive staff to respond to issues identified by staff in climate survey or other sources as identified.
Creates an environment that promotes the organization's ability to meet its established FY budgetary goals including LEAN/Six Sigma initiative related objectives.
Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
The Chairman is an active clinician and researcher.
Demonstrates sensitivity to the culture and needs of the community.
Performs other duties as assigned.
